Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (1881 – 1938), the founder of the Republic of Turkey, is unfortunately used for propaganda nowadays, by Fenerbahce Club. There is an effort for creating common belief that he was a Fenerbahce supporter, which is a baseless lie. He wasn't a member, nor supporter of any sports club. Also he once declared that, "I have no support to one club, more than others. Because every club in Republic of Turkey, belongs to me."

Another hidden truth: Fenerbahce's President executed as a result of the trial about assassination attemp to ATATURK
Upon information received that an attempt would be made on Atatürk’s life, who had left for Izmir, on Wednesday June 16, 1926 the would-be assassins were captured with weapons and bombs in their possession.
A ring of assassins had planned to assassinate Atatürk using certain weapons and thus to overthrow the government in this manner at any cost... The assassi-nation was planned by some members of the Progressive Republican Party. The most important role was played by Şükrü Bey, Izmit Deputy of the Progressive Republican Party, and Kara Kemal, a former member of the Union and Progress Party. The assassination was initially planned to take place in Ankara, but it was impeded with the intervention of Sabit Bey, a Deputy from Erzincan, and Faik Bey. Later, the group planned to assassinate Atatürk in Bursa but since it was not deemed suitable in this city, they finally decided to carry out the assassination in Izmir.
As a result of a delay in the arrival of the train which was expected to be in Izmir on June 16, 1926, Şevki of Crete informed the Governor of Izmir of the situation and the would-be assassins were captured with their weapons.
It was discovered that certain members of the Progressive Republican Party were involved in the plot and that the former members of the Union and Progress Party had planned and provoked this action. Their purpose was to incite the reactionaries using religion as a political tool and to remove Mustafa Kemal Pasha from power. When they failed, the prominent leaders of the Union and Progress Party planned to assassinate Mustafa Kemal Pasha with the help of their associates in the Progressive Republican Party. The Independence Tribunal sentenced the offenders to death. Seventeen of the conspirators were executed on July 14, 1926. Among them were Ziya Hurşit, Laz İsmail, Gürcü Yusuf, Çopur Hilmi, Şükrü Bey, İsmail Canpolat, and Dr. Nazım the president of Fenerbahce Club.
